Most small businesses do not have a bad website. They have one that was never asked to do anything in particular — it exists, it loads, and nobody has ever measured it. The builder that made it had no way of knowing that a Gloucestershire stonemason needs the county in the page title, or that a dog walker needs a business record a search engine can read.

An AvoWebsite is built to a standard instead of a template, and the standard is checkable. Every site is measured with Google Lighthouse before it goes live and after, and the numbers go in the case studies — where you can run the test yourself.

Accessibility is the part we will put in writing. Speed depends on the visitor’s phone and their signal; WCAG AA does not. It is the same result on every device, on every connection, on the day we hand it over and a year later — which is why it is the one number we are willing to guarantee. Every site we build scores 100, and if yours ever does not, we fix it.

  • 100WCAG AA accessibilityGuaranteed. Unlike speed, this does not vary with the visitor’s phone or their signal.

What that means for you

  • Your Google result says what you actually do

A search result is mostly the page title. One of the sites we rebuilt had a home page titled “Home”; the other said “Expert Stonemasonry Services” with no business name and no county. Both now name the trade and the towns, so somebody searching for it sees it.

  • Google can show your hours and number in the results

The structured business record is what lets your service area, opening hours and phone number appear in the listing itself rather than only on the page once somebody has clicked. Neither site had one before.

  • The page is there before somebody gives up on it

Google treats 2.5 seconds as the pass mark for a page appearing on a phone, and uses it as a ranking signal. One of these sites took 8.7 seconds and now takes 1.8. On a poor signal in a car park, that is the difference between a customer and a back button.

  • Nobody is turned away at the door

The site works with a screen reader, with a keyboard and no mouse, and for somebody who cannot read small grey text. That is the part we guarantee, because unlike speed it does not depend on the visitor’s phone or their signal.

  • The address belongs to you

Every link, every rating and every year of search history builds up against a domain. If that domain is a website builder’s subdomain, you are building it for them. Moving to your own name means the work compounds where you can keep it.
